Mahmut Arıkan's 'Oh, what a relief' presidential candidate revealed! 'Holy alliance' is coming, 2 more parties to be invited

Saadet Party leader Mahmut Arıkan's announcement regarding his presidential candidate during a live broadcast on NOW TV has stirred political circles.

Arıkan, who argued that their candidate would embrace not just a certain segment but all of Turkey, said: "We have such a presidential candidate that when the name is heard, 86 million will say 'oh, what a relief!'. We have agreed on a name that has resonance in every segment of society and will establish justice and peace."

When asked for the name of the candidate, Arıkan replied: "Let's keep it secret for now so that the population in Silivri doesn't increase further."

A striking claim has been made regarding the person in question, who has become a subject of curiosity in the political agenda.

Yeniçağ columnist Fatih Ergin suggested that the candidate Arıkan referred to as the one who will make "86 million say 'oh, what a relief'" is DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan. Claiming that the Saadet, DEVA, and Future (Gelecek) parties will form a 'holy alliance' and that Babacan will be the candidate of this alliance, Ergin wrote that it is also planned to include the New Welfare (Yeniden Refah) Party and the Key (Anahtar) Party in the alliance.

The relevant part of Ergin's article is as follows:

"The candidate Arıkan says they are 'working on' and who will make 'Turkey breathe a deep sigh of relief' when announced is none other than Ali Babacan! Clear information I received from both Saadet Party and DEVA Party sources confirms this. I also inquired with the Future Party, but they remained tight-lipped...

According to the formula being worked on, Ali Babacan will be declared the presidential candidate of the 'holy alliance' to be formed by the Saadet, DEVA, and Future parties. It is also planned to include the New Welfare Party and the Key Party, with which contact has not yet been established, in this alliance. Back-channel diplomacy with these two parties will be initiated soon.

The ongoing debates and polemics over these three parties entering the 2023 elections on CHP lists (they feel the issue is constantly being held against them) have also been influential in the idea of forming an alliance among themselves and putting forward a presidential candidate..."
