It is alleged that the son of the police officer who killed 5 members of his family in Adana and the Tarsus district of Mersin committed suicide at home in 2024 with his father's service weapon due to depression after his close friend passed away.
COMMITTED MURDERS ONE AFTER ANOTHER
Mehmet Tehçi (44), a 19-year veteran police officer serving in the patrol units in the Tarsus district of Mersin, first strangled his wife Ferdane Tehçi (37) to death at home yesterday. He then came to Adana and killed his father-in-law Yusuf (66), mother-in-law Hüsne (61), and aunt-in-law Semiha Tehçi (51) by stabbing them.
Later, he shot and killed his brother-in-law Fatih İsmail Tehçi, a mathematics teacher at a study center, with a handgun and dumped his body in a wooded area.
WHY DID HIS SON COMMIT SUICIDE?
It was learned that Mehmet Tehçi had 3 children, and one of them, 15-year-old Ökkeş Berk Tehçi, committed suicide in August 2024 in the Tarsus district of Mersin using his father's service weapon.
It is alleged that a very close male friend of the child had passed away, which caused him to fall into depression, suffer psychological distress, and commit suicide.
CHILLING ROOM DETAIL
It was learned that police officer Tehçi killed his wife yesterday morning in the same room where his son had committed suicide.
The reason why Tehçi chose the room where his son committed suicide to strangle his wife is also being investigated by the police.
CHILDREN TAKEN INTO PROTECTIVE CUSTODY
On the other hand, it was learned that police officer Mehmet Tehçi's 2 children, aged 4 and 9, have been taken into state care by the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
